Education Key Driver For Societal Growth – Dr Oyedepo

The Deputy Provost ( Academics) College of Education Ilorin , Dr Bosede Oyedepo, has identified Education as a key driver of societal growth and progress.

Dr Oyedepo who is also a lecturer in the department of Educational Foundations gave the indication while delivering the 3rd inaugural lecture of the college themed “Who does Bachelors Degree certificate Help?: A dilemma of Mismatch Between Academic- based Knowledge and practices.

Dr Oyedepo who argued that  a well trained bachelor’s degree holder enjoys a Hugh quality job and high propensity of being considered by employers for career advancement opportunities.

She however said that as helpful as possessing a bachelor’s degree, she said the major issue is the weakness of the educational system that exists in the country presently which she says is not adding the development of one’s analytical and critical thinking capabilities.

Dr Oyedepo advised thet entrepreneural programmes are incorporated into the educational system at all levels inorder to address the unemployment problem facing the country.

He has a Master's Degree in Mass Communication, from the University of Lagos, a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism from the Lagos State University and also a
Certification in Business Administration and Management, from the Babson College, Massachusetts, United States of America.
