The logo for the 29th UN Climate Change Conference (COP29) has been unveiled in Baku.
COP29 Operating Company Chair Narmin Jarchalova while unveiling the logo at a press conference said the logo symbolizes the COP29 presidency’s multifaceted initiatives, blending buta motifs with leaves and water droplets to highlight ecological vulnerability and Azerbaijan’s cultural heritage.
Jarchalova noted that the buta motif embraces sustainability and innovation, bridging past and future.
“The combination of buta motifs and water drops represents unity and the elements—flora, fauna, air, water, energy, and the universe.
“With its roots in Azerbaijan’s history and its timeless cultural heritage, the buta motif embraces sustainability and innovation, and forms a bridge between past and future.
“The combination of buta motifs represents unity, and in depicting drops of water, the buta motifs also represent five different elements – flora and fauna, air and wind, water, energy, and the universe,” she says.
Amid climate challenges, the COP29 logo emphasizes the importance of harmony between humanity and the environment, promoting ecologically sensitive and action-oriented approaches.
