By Dare Akogun

The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), has thrown it’s support behind the second term bid of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.

The Vice President North Central Zone of the council Amb. Akoshile Mukhthar in a statement made available to newsmen today in Abuja it is throwing it’s weight behind Gov AbdulRazaq because of the unprecedented number of young persons in key leadership positions.

He said the singular act has translated into qualitative and people centered governance that has the people of the state singing a new song as their homeland is being repositioned to compete in the 21st century.

According to the statement “It will be recalled that your Excellency’s administration was birthed from a youth driven revolution that unseated an entrenched order that neither recognized youth nor promote their interests, and no doubt young persons are able to aspire to leadership while also being assured that their voices will be heard in the highest levels of decision making in the state.

“Based on our close assessment, which was prompted by the fact that it was an experiment in youth mobilization and democratic change, we hereby put a stamp of approval on Your Excellency’s administration policy of introducing an unprecedented number of social welfare and safety net programmes, in clear departure from the past when state resources were shared among a few.

“Investing in youth empowerment through creation of factories and ICT innovation hubs in Kwara state, to ensure that more of the youth of the state are not lost to social vices and violent crimes.

“Embarking on an unprecedented number of infrastructural projects, with impact on the livelihoods of the citizenry of the state.

“Based on the above and several verified projects, we hereby notify Your Excellency of our resolution to adopt your reelection, as we are convinced beyond reasonable doubt that more of these good works will be carried out in the second term, for the good of Kwara and as a model for other states to adopt.

“We have directed our structures in Kwara to start mobilizing in their numbers two weeks ago and a strong delegation shall be on ground to follow the process and ensure Your Excellency’s victory by the grace of God on 11th March,” he said.
